Account Deletion

MyEmailSpamFilter  |  How to delete your account and data

About Your Data

MyEmailSpamFilter has no backend server. All your data is stored exclusively on your device. There is no data on any external server to delete.

Because the App stores all data locally on your device, you have complete control over deletion. You do not need to submit a request to us - you can delete your data yourself at any time using the methods described on this page.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete an account from the App, the following data is permanently removed from your device:

Data permanently removed on account deletion:

  • Your email address for that account
  • OAuth tokens (Gmail) or IMAP password for that account
  • All scan result history for that account
  • All account-specific settings and preferences
  • The account record itself

Spam filter rules and safe sender lists are shared across accounts and are not deleted when a single account is deleted. They are removed if you delete all accounts or uninstall the App.

Deleting an Account in the App

The fastest way to delete your account and data is from within the App.

Windows Desktop

  1. Open MyEmailSpamFilter on your Windows PC.
  2. Click the Settings icon or navigate to the Settings screen.
  3. Select Account Management.
  4. Select the account you want to delete from the account list.
  5. Click Delete Account.
  6. Confirm the deletion when prompted. This action cannot be undone.

Android

  1. Open MyEmailSpamFilter on your Android device.
  2. Tap the Settings icon or navigate to the Settings screen.
  3. Tap Account Management.
  4. Select the account you want to delete from the account list.
  5. Tap Delete Account.
  6. Confirm the deletion when prompted. This action cannot be undone.

Removing All Data by Uninstalling the App

If you want to remove all data associated with MyEmailSpamFilter - including all accounts, scan history, rules, and settings - uninstalling the App will remove the App's private data directory from your device.

Windows Desktop

  1. Open Settings on Windows (Win + I).
  2. Navigate to Apps > Installed apps.
  3. Find MyEmailSpamFilter in the list.
  4. Click the three-dot menu next to the App and select Uninstall.
  5. Follow the uninstall prompts.

After uninstalling, you may also manually delete any remaining data from: C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\MyEmailSpamFilter\

Android

  1. Open Settings on your Android device.
  2. Navigate to Apps (or Application Manager).
  3. Find and tap MyEmailSpamFilter.
  4. Tap Uninstall and confirm.

Alternatively, long-press the MyEmailSpamFilter icon on your home screen or app drawer and select Uninstall.

Revoking Gmail Access

If you used Gmail with the App, you can also revoke the App's access to your Gmail account directly from your Google Account settings. This is an optional extra step; deleting the account in the App already removes the stored OAuth tokens from your device.

  1. Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  2. Find MyEmailSpamFilter in the list of apps with access to your account.
  3. Click on it and then click Remove Access.

This revokes the OAuth authorization at Google's side, which prevents the stored OAuth tokens (if any remain on your device) from being used to access your Gmail account.

No Server-Side Data to Delete

Because MyEmailSpamFilter has no backend server, there is no server-side data associated with your account. We do not have a database of users, accounts, or email data on any server. There is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

All deletion actions described on this page operate entirely on your own device.
